1. Connect with a SmartRecruiters API key
Generate an API key with the Candidates and Jobs scopes inside SmartRecruiters Apps & Integrations and paste it into TrueHire. We use the X-SmartToken header on every call.
2. Sync jobs and hiring processes
TrueHire pulls every public job and the stages defined in each hiring process so you can map them precisely to TrueHire assessments.
3. Webhook fires on status change
Add the TrueHire webhook URL in SmartRecruiters Webhooks. When a candidate's status changes to a mapped stage, TrueHire creates the assignment and emails the invite.
4. Push score, report, and stage advance back
On submission TrueHire posts a SmartRecruiters note with the result, attaches the PDF report, and advances the candidate to the configured pass or fail status when auto-advance is on.

When a candidate enters a configured SmartRecruiters stage — say "Coding Challenge" — TrueHire creates an assignment and emails the invite link automatically. No copy-paste, no manual handoff.

After the candidate submits, TrueHire posts a summary note on the SmartRecruiters candidate record, attaches the full PDF report, and (optionally) advances them to a pass or fail stage based on a score threshold you set.

Authentication uses the SmartRecruiters X-SmartToken header. Webhooks are verified with HMAC-SHA256 against a per-integration secret.
