3 levels

Of enforcement

Proctoring candidates do not hate

All the monitoring you need, none of the invasive lockdown that drives top talent away.

Fullscreen lock enforcement

Assessment runs in fullscreen with any exit logged and optionally auto-pausing the session.

Tab switch & window blur tracking

Every tab switch, blur, and focus event is timestamped for post-session review.

Webcam continuity checks

Periodic snapshots plus face embedding comparison confirm the same person is present throughout.

Clipboard paste blocking

Block paste into code and text editors during strict-integrity sessions.

Gaze and attention tracking

MediaPipe gaze detection flags excessive off-screen looking or second-monitor patterns.

Keystroke biometrics

Typing-rhythm modeling catches candidate swaps mid-session.

Audio monitoring

Detect secondary voices and off-screen prompts with optional microphone capture.

Three enforcement levels

None, basic, strict — match proctoring sensitivity to the role.

Full audit trail

Every flag is logged with timestamp and replay — exportable as a PDF for compliance.

Built for how modern teams hire

Browser-native

No lockdown browsers, no extensions

Traditional proctoring tools hijack the browser with invasive extensions. ClarityHire proctoring works in any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge — with zero install.

  • Candidates click a link and start the assessment
  • Works on company laptops with install restrictions
  • No screenshot of every 30 seconds, no mouse-tracking overlay
Humane enforcement

Three levels so you never over-protect

A junior portfolio review does not need the same proctoring as a principal engineer interview. Pick your level per assessment and stop losing candidates to overkill.

  • None — silent event logging only
  • Basic — fullscreen lock + face continuity
  • Strict — all ten signals, paste block, fullscreen force
Transparent to candidates

Candidates know what is monitored — because trust matters

A clear in-app notice explains which signals are active before the assessment begins. Top candidates stay; bad actors self-select out.

  • Compliance-ready candidate consent flows
  • Per-signal disclosure on the start screen
  • Retention controls for biometric artifacts

How it works

01

Pick enforcement level

Set none, basic, or strict per assessment or per question.

02

Candidate consents and starts

Clear notice explains monitored signals. Candidate clicks start and the browser enters fullscreen.

03

Signals stream during the session

Webcam, keystroke, tab events, and paste activity capture in real time.

04

Review with evidence

Timeline, replay, per-signal scoring, and exportable PDF report.

Frequently asked questions

Do candidates need to install a special browser or extension?+

No. ClarityHire proctoring runs entirely in the browser using web APIs — getUserMedia, the Fullscreen API, the Page Visibility API, and the Clipboard API. It works in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge out of the box.

What happens if a candidate exits fullscreen?+

Depending on the enforcement level: basic logs the event for review, strict flags and optionally pauses the assessment until the candidate returns to fullscreen. You can review every exit with a timestamp.

Can I use proctoring without webcam monitoring?+

Yes. Each signal is individually configurable. You can proctor with only fullscreen + tab tracking + paste blocking — no camera required — for roles where biometric capture is not appropriate.

Is proctoring data compliant with privacy regulations?+

Yes. Biometric and behavioral data is hashed, stored per configurable retention, and subject to deletion workflows for GDPR/BIPA compliance. Candidates are informed before capture.

How is this different from cheat detection?+

Proctoring is the enforcement layer — fullscreen lock, tab tracking, paste blocking. Cheat detection is the analysis layer — face, keystroke, gaze, code coherence scoring. ClarityHire includes both.
